Publish your changes

Your changes wait as a private draft until you press Publish — or go live on their own, if you'd rather.

Every site has two versions: the draft you're working on, and the public site your visitors see. Publishing copies the draft to the public site.

How a new site publishes

Sites you create in the dashboard start out waiting for you to publish:

  • Everything you and Lanlan change is saved to the draft straight away.
  • Visitors keep seeing the last version you published. Before your first publish, your address shows a "Coming soon" page.
  • Nothing reaches visitors until someone presses Publish.

Publish

  1. Open Tell Lanlan.
  2. Check the preview. The status next to it says Draft when there are changes visitors can't see yet.
  3. Press Publish — it appears whenever there's a draft. The status changes to Going live, then Live — usually a few seconds later. Very large sites can take a little longer.

On a phone, the Publish button is in the top bar.

You can also ask: "Publish the site."

Anyone who works on the site can publish, not only the owner.

Look at the draft before you publish

  • The preview in Tell Lanlan always shows the draft.
  • Preview ↗ opens the draft full size in a new tab.

The draft is private. Only people working on the site can open it — to show it to someone else, invite them or publish. If you remove someone from the site, the draft's address changes, so their old link stops working.

Publish every change automatically

If you'd rather skip the draft, the site's owner can turn on automatic publishing:

  1. Open Settings in the sidebar (Site settings).
  2. Under Publishing, turn on Publish changes automatically.

From then on, every change goes straight to visitors, a few seconds after it's made. Turning it on also publishes any draft that's waiting. Turn it off again to go back to drafts.

Sites you create from Claude or ChatGPT through the connector publish automatically from the start.

Hide one page while you work on it

On the Pages & SEO page, each page has a Publish / Unpublish switch. An unpublished page disappears from the public site straight away, while the rest of the site stays live. Or ask: "Make the Pricing page a draft for now."

To show an unpublished page to someone without an account, ask Lanlan for a preview link: "Make a preview link for the Pricing page that lasts two days." It works for 1 hour unless you ask for longer, up to 7 days, and the page shows a "DRAFT PREVIEW" banner. Preview links only work for pages you've unpublished, not for the rest of your draft.

On a site that waits for you to publish, press Publish in Tell Lanlan after switching a page back on, so visitors see it again. Add and organise pages.
