What is Lanlan?

Two minutes on what Lanlan does, and where you'll do it.

The short version

Lanlan is a website builder for people who don't write code. You tell Lanlan what you want, in your own words, and it builds the site. Then you keep changing it the same way — or by clicking the words and pictures on the page and typing over them.

Lanlan also handles the technical parts: hosting, publishing, forms, visitor numbers, search engines and your own domain name.

Where you'll do it

Everything happens in your dashboard at app.lanlan.site. The main screen is called Tell Lanlan: a conversation on one side, your site on the other. You type what should change, and the site changes in front of you.

  • "Build a website for my bakery. Warm and friendly, with our opening hours."
  • "Make the headline shorter and add a page for the menu."
  • "Add a contact form to the home page."

The rest of the dashboard is where you look at things: the messages people send through your forms, how many visitors you had, your pages, your pictures, your domain. See how the Tell Lanlan screen works.

What you don't have to think about

  • Hosting. Your site has a free address from day one, like your-bakery.lanlan.site.
  • HTTPS. The padlock in the browser is set up for you, on the free address and on your own domain.
  • Publishing. On sites you make in the dashboard, changes are saved as a draft first. When you're ready, press Publish and visitors see them a few seconds later. You can switch a site to publish every change automatically if you prefer. How publishing works.
  • Going back. Lanlan keeps your recent published versions, so you can put the site back the way it was. Roll back changes.
  • Pictures and search engines. Images are resized for phones and a sitemap (a list of your pages for search engines) is made for you.

Free, and Pro

Lanlan is free to start. A free site gets everything above, with a small "Made with Lanlan" bar at the bottom. Making a site Pro costs $15 a month for that site. Pro adds your own domain name, removes the bar, lets you invite people to help, and gives you more space. Plans and billing.

Using Claude or ChatGPT instead

If you already work in Claude or ChatGPT, you can connect Lanlan there and build by chatting in that app. It's optional — everything on these pages works in the dashboard. Use Lanlan from Claude or ChatGPT.

What to try next

If you get stuck

Ask Lanlan. In Tell Lanlan, "I can't figure out how to…" almost always gets you unstuck. For anything Lanlan can't help with, email support.
