Things to say to Lanlan

A starter pack of requests that work well in Tell Lanlan — for building, changing, fixing and running your site.

Each example is one way to say it, not the only way. Lanlan understands ordinary language, so treat these as starting points, not magic words. Type them in Tell Lanlan.

Getting a direction

  • "Before we build, can we do a design session? It's a website for my bakery."
  • "Show me a few different looks for the top of the home page."
  • "My site feels off. Can the design team take a look and tell me what's wrong?"

Building

  • "Build a one-page site for my dog-walking business in West Oakland."
  • "Add an About page, a Services page and a Contact page."
  • "Add a contact form to the home page with name, email and message."
  • "Make a gallery page with twelve photos in three columns."
  • "Set up a blog. I want to write about coffee."

Changing the look

  • "Make the headline shorter."
  • "Make the whole site feel calmer — more space, softer fonts."
  • "Change the accent colour to a deep forest green."
  • "The booking form is cramped on phones. Fix it."

Adding content

  • "Replace the About text with this:" — then paste your text.
  • Attach a PDF of your menu: "Turn this into a Menu page."
  • Attach a photo: "Put this at the top of the home page."
  • Attach a spreadsheet: "Add each of these projects to the portfolio." (Free sites hold up to 5 items per collection; Pro sites far more.)
  • "Find out when our town's farmers' market started and add a line about it to the About page." Lanlan searches the web and tells you where the fact came from.
  • "Look at example-gallery.com and tell me what makes its layout work."

Pictures

  • "Find a photo of a sunny bakery counter for the top of the home page."
  • "Make a simple logo: a loaf of bread in our green, on a transparent background."

Checking and fixing

  • "Check the site for broken links and missing descriptions."
  • "The Submit button on the contact form doesn't work."
  • "The footer text is too small to read on phones."

Undoing

  • "Go back to how the headline was before."
  • "Restore the version from yesterday morning."

Publishing and sharing

  • "Publish the site."
  • "Hide the Pricing page as a draft and make a preview link that lasts two days."

Running the site

  • "Who wrote in through the contact form this week?"
  • "How many visitors did we have last month, and where did they come from?"
  • "Write a Google title and description for every page."
